(Belated) Weekend Game Deals – 27/02/17

Hello everyone, and apologies for the late post. My weekend was busy, but as you saw, there was a keyboard review posted yesterday, so if you missed me that much, there’s something to make up for it. Anyway, with a big week in gaming, the Switch release date approaches, Nintendo’s next console looks to save them from the perhaps, underwhelming, WiiU life. I’m looking to get my hands on one and review, so watch this space. Anyway, let’s get to the deals.

First up is a relatively recent PS4 exclusive, The Last Guardian. I’ve seen mixed reviews of this game. Some love it, some don’t but at £27.99 at Argos, you can probably afford to give it a go.

The Last Guardian PS4

Secondly, Dying Light The Following Enhance Edition on PS4. This is the original game of course with all the DLC’s included. If you haven’t played this game, it really is worth it. A great zombie killing, free running, melee weapon making sort of game. It caters to A LOT of people, and one of them happens to be me, can’t recommend this game enough  Check it out for only £15.

Dying Light The Following Enhanced Edition PS4

A Pre-Owned copy of Mafia 3 is available for £20 on PS4, or new for £25. The third iteration in this series sees you play Lincoln Clay, an orphan coming home to New Bordeaux (a re-imagined New Orleans) after spending years in Vietnam, he returns to more intense action and a thrilling story.

Mafia III PS4

Finally, we have another pre-owned game, but it seems to be worth it seeing as Sniper Elite 4 is available for only £30. This game is a relatively new release, so it is surprising to see it this cheap on a console. Play as an elite WWII American sniper posted in Italy, and take out Nazi officers posted in fishing villages,  Mediterranean beaches, forests and mountains with brutal X-Ray kills, and all new takedowns. Make sure to check it out.

That’s all for this week, make sure to check out my twitter over at @FGameReviews as well as follow the blog. Comment below, or tweet me if you have any more deals! Thanks for reading.

Penclic Corded Mini Keyboard C2 Revier

unnamed

Keyboards are quickly becoming a thing we use in everyday life, either at work, at home, or even on your phone, you use a keyboard every day. Something you use every day has to be comfortable and easy to use, and today I’m seeing if the Penclic Corded Mini Keyboard can do just that. So read on to see how the £45 piece of kit coming out of Sweden fairs up.

Design:
The first thing you notice of course is the size, it’s small. Of course, what would you expect from a “mini” keyboard, but coming from a large keyboard I use primarily for gaming, it can take a little bit of getting used to. However, if you are used to laptops and smaller keyboard like this, or just have smaller hands, it will feel great to type on.
Looking at it, it is a black sleek design (white is also available) with a slightly thicker top to house some additional USB ports. The keys do not protrude out in any way making it very easy to slip into a bag or carry case. The only real colour on the keyboard is the enter key which is a blue, the only coloured key on the keyboard. Perhaps a welcome sight to the world where keyboards light up all sorts of colours.
Oficial dimensions are as follows:
Height: 6mm (21 mm at top)
Base: 285 x 162 mm
Weight:381g including 1.4m cable

Features/Performance:
The main Unique Selling Point of this keyboard is for people with busy and mobile lives, and I believe it would do so well. It’s small design also serves another purpose, and that’s to take strain off the wrists. It does so as you don’t have to reach or move your hands too much to use any of the keys. I do have pretty big hands, and to test it out properly, I had my girlfriend try it out, who has smaller hands. She says “It’s a very easy keyboard to type on. The keys are easily reachable and easy to press”

The flat and small design has been used before, so it isn’t entirely revolutionary. It is very similar to many other small keyboards of its type. The only difference is the keys bounce back and feel a lot better than the majority of laptops I have used. A “satisfying type”, is probably the best way I can describe it.

Being a gaming blog, of course, I had a go on Counter Strike with it. Now, I know this isn’t a gaming keyboard so this probably shouldn’t affect your decision much, but let’s get into it anyway. Fingers poised on WASD, I hit the shift key accidentally a lot. Something I don’t usually do. And when I wanted to hit it, it didn’t respond 100% of the time. It felt uncomfortable resting on WASD, very finicky, as the buttons go down VERY easily. However, take it with a pinch of salt as it never states it is a gaming keyboard or even attempt to be one, it is purely for typing, so don’t let this cloud your judgement.

Conclusion:
The C2 Mini Keyboard shows itself up front as a stylish and smart alternative to your everyday laptop keyboards. It won’t take up any space on your desk or in your bag. However, it’s ergonomics may be slightly questionable as it is very similar to a lot of other keyboards, and at a slightly higher price than most. Being wired it might not be able to replace your laptop keyboard, but it is great for a smaller desk. My final rating is a 7/10

Pros:
+Keys press very easy
+A satisfying type
+Straight forward and easy to use, plug the USB in and go

Cons:
-Ergonomics not entirely clear
-A touch more expensive than it’s competitors

(This keyboard was received free and for this reviews purpose, however, it has not affected the judgement or the outcome of the review in any way)

Game Review: Golf With Your Friends

header1

Mini golf is something everyone can play. It takes away the commitment, walking, and constant need to hit a ball 300 yards. Now what about mini golf in a video game? The best of convenience. All of the gimmicks, windmills and nearly missed putts you get from actual mini golf, but in the comfort of your own home. With online play being the main focus, you don’t have to make the trip down to the mini golf course with friends. But is it worth the buy?

The gameplay is very very simple, as you would think from an early access mini golf game. Click and drag your mouse to take a shot. Simple. In that sense of the game, it is perfect. But sometimes you just can’t help but feel that the power is a little bit inconsistent. Sometimes 3 bars of power will go far, or not far enough. Although that is only a rarity and 99% of the time the power is spot on, it adds a bit of frustration. The game now comes with 5 holes, with another to be added soon in a free update much like the Haunted and Candyland courses that were added later to join the original 3, forest, oasis and twilight.

Forest is the first hole you will probably play. More of a tutorial hole. Fast, simple and teaches you the mechanics of what’s to come. Oasis, the games desert themed map filled with Spinx’s and pyramid temples offers a little bit more adventure, and Twilight which is set in a slightly more magical forest in the night time, glow in the dark balls and all. The maps are great, every hole offers something different. One hole you’re shooting your ball into a opening and closing Spinx mouth, the next you’re adventuring through waterfalls and mine shafts. With most holes offering a way to get a hole in one, you can definitely play a course more than once.

If the different hole outcomes and paths weren’t enough, you can add multipliers to the game, things like jumping, which offers even more in ones, and changing the shape of the ball. To an egg and a cube, to an acorn and a cone. They even give you the option to make it random per hole. I can go for hours listing all the different multipliers the game offers. Once you have played with everything however it does get a little stale, as does any game, but you really do have to try everything this game has to offer before you can call it done. The game can be difficult to enjoy by yourself, so it is best to find some friends or an open lobby.

The multiplayer is the main focus of the game, as you can probably tell by the title. It is best enjoyed with friends, as mentioned before, or random strangers via the game browser. There is no dedicated matchmaking service however, so it can sometimes be hard to find a good, full game to play. You can play with up to 12 players for a really full game, but it is rare that you will find that many in a game. Sometimes players disconnect, or just leave when their favourite modifier is off. So it is best to gather up some friends and give it a go.

The graphics are pleasant, cheerful and charming. The sound is great, music to fit each course, the forest and twilight courses are up beat and happy, the oasis course has rather intense music, making those battles even more fierce. The game has tonnes of charm, making this a great and fun game to play, especially at the price.

Overall, Golf With Your Friends is a perfect game to play…with your friends. And anyone for that matter. At under £5, you really can’t go wrong with this game. I already have 11 or so hours on it, so it’s more than worth the money. For me, it gets a great 9/10.

PROS:

+Simple mechanics, easy to pick up and play

+So much customization of game types

+ Great multiplayer

+ Maps are very well designed

+ Your ball gets a little floatie ring when it goes in the water!

CONS:

– No dedicated matchmaker

–  Hard to play by yourself

Weekend Deals (19-02-17)

Hey guys and welcome back to another Weekend Deals. Today I have more great deals on some of the big names as of late, with the likes of Dishonored 2 and Gears of War 4. So let’s get into it

corvo-1478818906373_large

First up, it’s aforementioned Dishonoured 2 (Or Dishonored 2 to keep it faithful to the games  American title) at a great price of  £22.99 from Argos on both PS4 and Xbox One. The sequel to the critically acclaimed stealth-action game where your decisions and who/how you kill dictate the majority of the game in its story and environment. The sequel has many good reviews, living to the hype the first has set. Although I am yet to play it, I’m sure this deal will encourage me.  The game can be found at these links.

Dishonored 2 deals, PS4 and Xbox One

Next is an Xbox exclusive series that holds the name of the favourite of many gamers. Especially the ones from the early days of the Xbox 360, it’s Gears of War 4. The newest addition to the franchise takes place in the future, a fair few years after the events of 3, and carries the story well with the cover-based shooter gameplay we have seen executed perfectly throughout the year. It can be found at Smyths Toy Store for £19.99 here.

Gears of War 4

Now, what do you need to play a shooter on console? An Elite Xbox One controller of course! I have one myself and I love it. The weight of it more than anything feels perfect, the added triggers make you really feel in control, and the new d-pad feels fluent. At £100 WITH  a choice of game (Gears of War 4, Halo 4, Forza Horizon 3), it’s  a perfect time to buy. Xbox One Elite controller with Selected Games

Now for a PC deal, and it’s probably my favourite game in the past few years. I honestly could go on forever why I love Overwatch, but that is for another post. So, for now, you can get the PC version for only £26! I can’t recommend it enough!  Overwatch on PC!

That’s it for this edition of Weekend deals. Have any more? Comment below or tweet at me over at @FGameReviews! See you next week

Weekend Deals 11/02/2017

Hey guys, and welcome to this edition of newly named Weekend Deals! (Previously Friday Deals) Coming up we have some good games at good prices, as well as another cool item. So let’s get into it:

First is Battlefield 1, the latest edition in the hit FPS franchise. I’m sure you know about it by now, but if not, Battlefield 1 takes you back to The Great War, WW1. It combines its renown destruction physics from the FrostBite engine and stellar gameplay that has only improved over the past iterations. So the deal is a good one, at only £ 32 ON Xbox One and PS4. Definitely a deal to check out.

Xbox one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electronic-Arts-1024123-Battlefield-Xbox/dp/B01F5D1MIA/&ref=zg_bsms_videogames_home_all?&camp=1634&creative=6738&linkCode=ur2&tag=postabarg-21

PS4 : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electronic-Arts-1024123-Battlefield-Xbox/dp/B01F5D1MJE/&ref=zg_bsms_videogames_home_all?camp=1634&creative=6738&linkCode=ur2&tag=postabarg-21&th=1

It can be found at PC for £28, but a code in box, not digital download.

Next up we have Fallout 4, another great sequel that has added onto an already great franchise. But this isn’t the normal version of the game, it’s the special Steelbook edition, so maybe even a buy if you have the standard? It’s only £15 at Game,  so a pretty great deal none the less. Check it out.

Now this one isn’t a game, bare with me, its a pretty cool deal, i promise. It’s a wallet that has the style of an original Atari 2600 woody available for less that £7. Perfect for a new everyday wallet, or a gift for that special nerd? Make sure you check it out.

Finally, it’s a pre-order deal, but this one might fly under the radar a bit. It’s the upcoming creative Lego game Lego Worlds, available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC for less that £18. I’ve played the Early Access on Steam and it’s a great game to relax and unwind with. It is like Minecraft with Lego, amazing to let your mind unwind, and build ANYTHING your mind can think of. If you like this kind of game, definitely check it out!

Friday Game Deals(03-02-17)

Hey Guys!

Welcome to another Friday Game Deals (sorta). I was busy over the weekend visiting Amsterdam which was super fun! Anyway, back to the game deals. This week has been a fun one in deals, with the fresh Resident Evil deals coming out a few weeks after release, as well as For Honour (Honor for my American readers), Horizon Zero Dawn, and Halo Wars 2 coming out in the coming weeks. So let’s get to the first one…

forhonor_og_1200x630

Firstly, For Honour is available on PC on CDKeys for only £33, and can be purchased via this link here: http://www.cdkeys.com/?mw_aref=a3398ef17c090e7ae150c91d07ed9f13

For its console counterparts, it can be found for £36.99 at toy retailer, Smyths, with use of PRE5 at checkout.

PS4 can be found here: http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/video-games-tablets/new-games-coming-soon/c-692/coming-soon-playstation-4/p-14064/for-honor-ps4/?siteID=Map_cr6_m7I-HmHWuSLcUTYhZSpj6Vn3zA

Xbox One here: http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/video-games-tablets/new-games-coming-soon/c-693/coming-soon-xbox-one/p-14065/for-honor-xbox-one/?siteID=Map_cr6_m7I-cMgCwpjDMXvefV0wZThKUA

Of course if you would like to try before you buy, Ubisoft are holding an open beta for For Honor on the weekend of  9th of Feb to the 12th, with the full game being released on the 14th. You will get a taste of 4 game modes and 9 heroes, while the full game will have 12 heroes, so you get a pretty clear idea of what to expect when the full thing hits shelves.

halo-wars-2

Next Halo Wars 2, the sequel that that has been demanded by a cult following if Halo and RTS fans. The Halo Wars series is quite different than your usual Halo titles but offers the same great story and world just the same. You can get it at Smyths, again using code PRE5 for £33.99, Xbox only, as it is an exclusive. http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/video-games-tablets/new-games-coming-soon/c-693/coming-soon-xbox-one/p-18624/halo-wars-2-xbox-one/?siteID=Map_cr6_m7I-E7XVxSgv_k3NU3CsgCVIfg

Halo Wars 2 is also available at ShopTo.net for £35 with no code, and a DLC Card Pack included. http://www.shopto.net/search/showproducts?products=XB1HA05,DWNLD40288,DWNLD40289

acunity1107141280jpg-37bc29_1280w

Another slightly more obscure deal, Assassins Creed Unity is available for the low low price of £1.49 on Xbox One from CDKeys. £1.49! That’s less than a Big Mac meal. It did get some bad press when it released, due to bugs and what not, but has since been ironed out, and definitely worth that asking price. http://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/games/assassin-s-creed-unity-xbox-one?mw_aref=0270abdc78a2d2c3e612daa569a1f11a

Finally, one I’m most excited about is the Crash Bandicoot remaster on PS4. Being born in 96 I grew up with a PS1, and Crash Bandicoot was my game of choice, along with Tomb Raider and Spyro, so this is one of the ones I am going crazy for. Although it has no release date, you can get some great pre-order deals. For only £32.99 on GameSeek, you can grab it on PS4. Though do bare in mind they take payment at time of purchase, so now, as opposed to when the game ships, whenever that release date may be. If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, Base is offering it at the same price with the use of code “postabargain”, or £35 without the code.  They take payment at time of shipping. Both links are below.
